Agent Alejandro Renteria Transcript: 

My name is Border Patrol Agent Alex Renteria, I work at the Imperial Beach Station in San Diego sector. Well as a border patrol agent, my responsibility is to protect our nation, to protect the United States from terrorists, weapons of mass destruction, any kind of terrorist weapons, as well as protecting our nation from people who are coming here illegally, who are not trying to enter through the ports of entry. You have to have vigilance, integrity, and you have to have a lot of pride in yourself. I think you also have to be very patriotic. There's a term we use called "bleed green," and you have to bleed green. You have to be a true American. There are a lot of opportunities. I think it depends on the individual; if you want to go out and get it, there's a lot of training that's available to us as Border Patrol Agents. That's one of the great things about this job; while you may be a Border Patrol Agent, and you may be assigned to one station, there's always a lot of opportunities for you in different sectors within the Border Patrol. I enjoy working outdoors. I love being out here. I'm not a desk guy, never was. I love working at night. I love working swingshift. It just depends, I mean, if you're an outdoors person, if you like being out in this environment, it's just something that I enjoy, and fun, its fun. Coming to work is a lot of fun. Getting out of your vehicle, hiking in the mountains and the bush, in the brush, and catching people making a difference for your country. I just think this job is fun.
